Two Louisiana teenagers were charged Friday with the murder of an Arizona professor who vanished four months ago, after cops found his remains after searching a landfill site for 48 days.
Junseok Chae was reported missing on March 25 when he didn’t return home from work at Arizona State University and his car was found just a week later in Louisiana.
The Republic of Arizona said that an average of 15 people worked 10 hours a day for 48 hours, and it cost more than $ 304,000 taxpayers to land on landfills to search for Chae’s ruins.
Officials think the two suspects, both identified as 18-year-old Javian Ezell and Gabrielle Austin, killed Chae during an armed robbery, threw the body in the trash, stole his car, and went to Louisiana.
The report reported that the suspects also faced armed robbery and vehicle theft charges. They were held on a $ 1 million bond.
As a student said to the station, Chae’s absence from Zoom was considered quite unusual.
“The class started at 9 o’clock and was there at 9 o’clock so we were probably about 60 people in this Zoom waiting room and never came,” the student told media.
According to the report, Chae worked at the State of Arizona School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, and the Technology, Data and Community Center in 2005.
