Brandon Jerelle Howard, 29, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and illegally possessing a firearm as a felon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Lawmakers say Howard shot a man at 3 o’clock in the morning. 14800 N 30 St block during a party in a house on Wednesday. The man was declared dead in the local hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release the man’s name. The office does not publish the names of the victims of crime due to its interpretation of the Marsy Act, a constitutional amendment to protect victims of crime, but it deprives the public of information that has long been available under Florida’s public registration laws.
The detectives met the witnesses, and the investigation led to Howard. Records show that he was arrested at 3 o’clock on his orders. At an Econolodge in North Dale Mabry in Tampa on Thursday. He was held without bail at Hillsborough County prison. The records list the home address in Valrico.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the shooting motive is still unclear.
Records show that Howard previously served for armed robbery at Florida state prison for two years and armed theft at Hillsborough and was released in 2014.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at a party in the 14000 block of North Street.
They later learned a man showed up to Advent Health with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital and pronounced deceased.
Deputies later identified Howard as the suspect. He was arrested around 3 a.m. Thursday and is being held at the Orient Road Jail without bond.
Detectives have yet to establish a motive in the shooting.
